The PCOM Library is proud to partner with Campus Operations to create an exhibit of medical equipment from the office of Dr. Ralph B. Secor, DO, Class of 1930. The display, located at the Georgia Campus, spotlights the development of diathermy treatment machines throughout the 20th century. Diathermy is a therapeutic treatment that uses electric currents (radio and sound waves) to generate heat in layers of the skin below the surface. This treatment, still in use today, helps relax muscles and joints, reduces inflammation and swelling, and improves blood circulation.
